Our Parenting Support Approach
At Baby & You we are known by the many families we have supported for our friendly, compassionate, and empowering approach to parenting.
By undertaking a comprehensive and holistic assessment of you and your little one, we can tailor an individualised support plan for you. This may involve just feeding or sleeping or may be a combination of many things.
We are passionate about supporting parents to understand their little ones and, as Circle of Security Parenting Facilitators, focus on the attachment between you and your baby and the concept of “good enough parenting”.
Baby & You was born out of us seeing many families wanting and needing a deeper and more individualised service to complement their existing community health support.
We look forward to meeting you and supporting you to support your baby.
Meet Carolyn & Olivia
Hi, my name is Carolyn, and I am a Mum to 2 wonderful (not so little) kids and a Child and Family Health clinical nurse specialist.
l love working with babies and toddlers, and have been privileged enough to work with hundreds of families in Sydney over the past two decades.
When I had my first baby I was living overseas, I had no family support and like all first time mum’s, just thought having a baby, breastfeeding and becoming a mum would just all happen naturally. How wrong I was! I was so fortunate to have a wonderful Child and Family health visitor in the UK who supported me through those early months, and I knew that this was what I wanted to do with my career.
I know how important it is to have someone walking beside you, listening to you, guiding you, and providing you with that never ending support. My child and family health visitor encouraged me to really listen to my own instinct and get to know “my baby” not the baby I was reading about in the books. This was a game changer for me and once I started to feel more empowered and confident in my parenting skills, parenting became more enjoyable.
Since completing my post graduate studies in Child and Family Health Nursing, I have worked as a child and family health nurse in Sydney. Alongside this, I have been working as a Parenting Educator and Sleep consultant with Safe Sleep Space supporting parents with feeding, sleeping and settling, and early parenting challenges. It has been my experience that often parents know the answers to their questions, but they just need someone to listen to them, validate and guide them.
I look forward to working with you, encouraging, and supporting you in this crazy world of parenting.
Hi, I’m Olivia! I grew up in New Zealand and made the move to Australia in 2005. Here, I met and married an Aussie, and together we have two lively and adorable children who keep us constantly on our toes. I trained as a Registered Nurse here in Australia, after following my heart to work with and care for people. Throughout my nursing career, I’ve been fortunate to work in both adult and paediatric care, in some of Sydney’s largest hospitals.
The birth of my first child ignited a strong passion within me to support and make a positive impact in the realm of parenting. I pursued a postgraduate diploma in Child and Family Health and absolutely love and feel privileged, to be providing care and support to babies, young children, and their families.
When I reflect on my early parenting journey, it's evident that I spent most of those initial years, in a state of brain fog. Going from one child to two, was a shock to the system and although I had some idea of what to expect, I quickly discovered that all babies are different. I often felt like I was in survival mode, grappling with numerous challenges, particularly breastfeeding and sleep. At times I felt like I was failing as a mother.
They say it takes a village, but my family was in New Zealand, and my husband worked long hours, leaving me with limited practical support. I had a special handful of friends who supported me through some of the hardest days, and for that, I am forever grateful. I wish I’d sought help and support from a postpartum professional as it may have enabled me to find peace and more enjoyment in the precious moments that went all too fast.
The transition into parenting can be challenging. Remember to be kind to yourself and seek help when you need it. You’re not alone. I look forward to being part of your village and supporting you on your parenting journey.
